Concept Note

Due to ongoing health risks and travel restrictions nationally and internationally CRACK Trust has designed this 14th edition of the camp to be an “online” edition.

We are inviting all our previous participants of CIAC, who have joined us in any of the last 13 editions (2007-2019). This 2020 CRACK Online Art Camp (COAC) will be organized based on the thematic idea of ‘Does Distance Matter?’ Key camp components and participation dynamics are as follows: >        Camp Dates: 25 – 28 December 2020 >         Curatorial Theme: Does Distance Matter? >         Curatorial Team: Suresh K.  Nair, Rajarshi Dasgupta, Tapati Chowdhury, Satadru Sovan Bhanduri, Rahul Ananda and Shawon Akand. >         Location: CRACK Zoom Meeting Rooms, CRACK Facebook and Instagram pages and CRACK YouTube channel >         Participation Eligibility: Artists must have physically participated at least once, at any of the previous editions of CIAC held between 2007 and 2019. >         Participation modes: o   Artists who are interested to join this year’s COAC, they will have to send a confirmation email to crackbangladesh@gmail.com . Participants will meet virtually in the daily ZOOM discussion sessions which will be held at 6.30pm Bangladesh Standard Time (GMT+6) onwards, everyday from 25 to 28 December 2020. o   Artists shall develop their ideas based on this edition’s curatorial theme and share their thoughts and works with COAC curators and participants. Primary sharing stage will be the evening ZOOM meetings. o   Video arts, online interactive arts and audio pieces will be shared through CRACK YouTube channel and Facebook page. o   Other types of creative expressions shall be documented in a manner suitable for online showcase through images, texts, video clips and/or audio recordings. Artists will submit documentation of their works i.e. images, stories, narrations, audio and video clips to COAC by the end of 28th December 2020 (GMT+6). o   The open day will be launched online simultaneously through CRACK channels (YouTube, Facebook & Instagram) on 29 December 2020. We are focused on bringing together all the members of CRACK family who have joined us in our journey of the last 13 years. However, we are open to review any interested new artist’s application to join this edition. If you have never been to CIAC and still want to join this online edition, then please send us a few lines highlighting your interest and alignment with our journey to crackbangladesh@gmail.com . Our board of jury will respond to your request for participation in due time before the camp begins on 25th December 2020. Fellow CRACK!
